The terrifying part of writing is giving it over to someone to read. Yes, criticism is necessary for a work to live beyond the meager existence it has in the writer’s hands. However, that does not make it easy to let go. Instead, I find that I need to keep reminding myself that my writing is not me, nor is it my baby. It is writing that stands to be improved.
